For the first time we only managed to have one crew in the Great River Race but what a performance they did.

The start of the race was busy as always with fairly rough conditions encountered. The Ginger crew of Matt Mayne, Stuart Shepherd, Stuart Richards, Dave Bould, Ian Mottershaw and Poppy Mayne lost some ground at the beginning of the race to some of the faster Celtics but by the end of the race they had caught up most of them to finish a very commendable 6th place in the Celtics and 34th out of all of the fleet (over 200 boats).

Our crew were also on the BBC coverage of the race and you can see us steaming through other competitors

Post race, the beer tent and all of the food area was completely flooded in about 1ft of water as the Thames had overflowed its banks. You would have thought this could have been predicted as it was one of the high tide points in the rivers calendar but perhaps they forgot to check this!

It meant that the beer tent and subsequent entertainment was not the usual buzz of activity so our Ginger crew retired early to respective local pubs and carried on the party there.

Well done for a great show and representing SARC in such a positive outing
