A 14 mile race from Pwllheli to Porthmadog with a bit of a do afterwards.

Race Details:- Categories – Women, Men and Mixed no class distinction, for safety reasons no one under 18. Entry fee £25.00 per boat (£5.00 each).

Rules – Rotating in boat is allowed. Cox and the 4 rowers must wear a life jacket, a radio should be used using channel 77 (boat to boat), tow line should be attached to thwarts (long enough for towing if required) and a minimum of 2 bailer buckets in each boat.

Cox’s Briefing – at 10:15am and race to start at 10:30am.

Registration – on-line registering of intent to come please by no later than Saturday 4h April by e-mailing Pippa Owen [email protected].

For directions – use LL53 5YT – there will be Race Notices in the vicinity pointing to the Start.

On Arrival – you will need to drop your boat at the start and drive your trailer to MYC Porthmadog, where there will be an allocated spot to keep your trailers. You will then be transported back to the start in time for coxes briefing. Please note, transport will be leaving Porthmadog at no later than 9:30am. If you are running late, then there will be allocated spaces near the start to keep your trailers and arrangements will be made after the race to collect them.

Refreshments at the start will be provided in conjunction with Pwllheli Rowing Club, there will also be toilet and changing facilities available.  We will have RIB support, 1st Boat to lead the way, 2nd Boat for the middle and 3rd Boat at the end. Of course depending on number of entries this will be changed accordingly. First aid will be available on RIB support if required. Changing and shower facilities available at MYC Porthmadog. And a Hot and Cold Buffet will be available at MYC followed by Presentation.

Each race participant will be presented with a bottle of Real Purple Moose Ale, and a Trophy for winners. There will be live Entertainment by Session (Rock Band) commencing at 7:00pm. We are hoping that you will stay and enjoy the entertainment following the race, and if you do then there are plenty of B&B’s available, camping and a Travel Lodge in Porthmadog. For further details please do not hesitate to contact us. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us, and the full course can be run, however in the event that we are not able to continue the full course then there is an alternative finish at Criccieth Beach. Final race decision at 6:30am by Geoff Wood
