The European Fixed Seat Rowing Championship will be held in Lake Pusiano in Northern Italy on 7 October 2017.
This is a fantastic event that the club attended and enjoyed last year. A large group of rowers and partners traveled to Italy for a wonderful weekend, and we managed to get 2 teams into the men’s final and came away with a creditable fourth place.
Entry requires 4 rowers and 1 cox per boat.
The format for the weekend as follows:
Thursday – 5 October 2017
- Suggested date for outward travel
Friday – 6 October 2017
- 9-12 am, welcome and training in the Italian 4 person boats
- 3-6 pm: training
- 7:30 pm official welcome dinner
Saturday – 7 October 2017
- 9-11:30 am: training and race readiness
- 12 am: umpires and captains meeting
- 1 pm: races
- 4:30 pm European Championships Victory Ceremony
- 5 pm: farewell party European Championships
Sunday – 8 October 2017
- Travel home
Entry to the event is free, as is attendance at the welcome dinner on the Friday evening.
Flights should be booked to Milan Malpensa Airport.
Last year those attending were provided with free transfers to and from Milan Malpensa Airport, and to and from most of the activities associated with the event. This year there is no guaranteed transfer unless staying in one of 4 small hotels near to the event headquarters. Accommodation is limited there.
If we are unable to find suitable accommodation at the venue – the most sensible option for accommodation looks to be in Lecco which is about 10 miles away. There is a range of reasonably priced accommodation available there.

If the race organised are unable to provide transfers to the accommodation we source – we will have to arrange our transfers to and from Milan Malpensa Airport, and the Race venue.
An option maybe be to hire a minivan or 2. Otherwise there look to be public transport and taxi links between Lecco and Lake Pusiano.
