Gloucester to Bristol – 2018

Following the success of the 2016 event with no loss of life, limb or anything else, the adventurous row from Gloucester to Bristol is going to be run again in 2018

Itinerary:

• Arrive in Gloucester Fri Night
• Stay at B&B (camping available) located 50 yards from same slipway used in 2016
• Launch 6am -Row tide assisted to Avonmouth (4-6 hrs)
• Tides turns at midday
• Row tide assisted up the Avon to Bristol (2-4 hrs)
• Job done

Following 2016 attempt and lessons learnt:

• use separate drivers to transport the trailers
• passage plan agreed with SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association – local coastguard) to include safe havens around the bridges
• boats to row in close formation for easy communication
• safety briefing a few days before the weekend
• picnics provided for each boat
• allow approx £40 each to cover picnics/car fuel/SARA donation/SARC donation
• B&B cost TBC
